In the Great Commission of the Bible, Jesus calls his disciples to go and make disciples...but what exactly does that mean for other Christian believers? 

What is a disciple? And how do you make one?


The GROW 2020 Weekend will be an information packed time designed to help you grow in faith and equip you to share that faith with others so that they may take the next steps in becoming a disciple.

  • Brian Upshaw

    Upshaw is team leader of the Disciple-Making Team for the BSCNC. He also serves as an adjunct faculty member at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Prior to coming to North Carolina, Brian served local churches in Georgia, Louisiana and Mississippi. Brian holds a doctorate of philosophy, a master’s degree in theology and master of divinity degree from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Brian is married to Brandie and they have two children.

  • chuck register

    Register serves as executive leader of Church Planting and Missions Partnerships for the BSCNC. Chuck oversees church planting, associational partnerships, Great Commission partnerships and collegiate partnerships. Prior to coming to the BSCNC, Chuck served as pastor of First Baptist Church in Gulfport, Mississippi. In addition, he has been an associate professor of evangelism at New Orleans Seminary. Chuck and his wife, Charlene, have a son, Chip, who is married to Amber; and a daughter, Christina.

  • adam bennett

    Bennett serves as the planter & pastor of Back Bay Church on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Adam has been in full-time ministry since 2005. He served two years with Campus Crusade for Christ at Mississippi State. He served as one of the pastors at Bayou View Baptist Church in Gulfport, MS since 2007. He married Becky (Weitzel) in 2014 and they recently welcomed their son, Jacob, into their lives. In 2015, Adam earned his Masters in Divinity from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Adam and Becky enjoy traveling, date nights at the movies, and exploring new restaurants. Adam also enjoys sitting with a cup of coffee and having long discussions about theology, current events, or Packers football. 

  • israel cox

    Cox serves Crosspoint Church by teaching most Sunday mornings, and by providing overall vision and leadership to the congregation. He is passionate about seeing people come to understand that the God who created them loves them more than they imagined, and then watching those same people surrender their hearts to that amazing love. Israel is married to Deana, and they have 3 incredible kids: Abby, Emily, & Noah. When he’s not serving at Crosspoint, Israel loves spending time with family, hunting and fishing, or watching a good football game.
