DAY 1
SEPTEMBER 15, 2024
SEPTEMBER 15, 2024
Jesus is my lord
Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Philippians 2:9-11
I’m a big fan of Tolkien’s epic trilogy, The Lord of the Rings. As you might expect, the story is ladened with images of “Lords” and the characters who serve them. Whether it’s Lord Elrond, master of the Rivendell elves, or Lord Sauron, the chief bad guy, these are people who have supreme authority in their respective domains.
There are at least two major differences between these fictional characters and Jesus. First, Jesus earned His exaltation through humility and obedience to His Heavenly Father. Second, Jesus isn’t Lord over just a few. He is Lord over all, with a name that is above every name! In other words, Jesus is the Lord of Lords because in humility He gave Himself on the cross of Calvary so that you might be forgiven and set free from sin! In His humble lordship, Jesus cares for, leads, protects, and provides for those who surrender to Him. Jesus is Lord. The question today is, “Have you surrendered and confessed Jesus as your Lord?” Some will confess Him as Lord with great joy and humility. Others will confess Him as Lord with despair and anguish. But everyone will do it…everyone.

Read: Philippians 2:5-11
PRAY: This passage ends with the goal being God’s glory. Will you ask God to enable and empower you to glorify Him through your surrender and submission to Jesus as Lord?
