DAY 10
SEPTEMBER 24, 2024
SEPTEMBER 24, 2024
MY SANCTIFICATION
Now in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver but also of wood and clay, some for honorable use, some for dishonorable. 21 Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work. 2 Timothy 2:20-21
We are all vessels of some kind. A particular “thing” used to hold, contain, or carry something else. If we think of these verses in terms of dishware in our homes, we can approach an understanding of these verses by considering this example. When we serve dinner to our guests or even our immediate family members, do we grab the clean dishes from the cabinet or go for the dirty dishes from the sink? Surely, we use the ones from the cabinet that have been cleaned, set away, and prepared for use! It is important to note that the dishes in the sink are still useful, just not in their current condition. They only lack some “cleaning” before they too can be used at your next dinner.
There are a few different ways to biblically define the word sanctification, but it simply can boil down to this… Being sanctified means “to be set apart and reserved for a holy purpose.” As the verses for today state, there are many materials used to construct vessels. Their makeup alone does not make them useful or not, it is whether they have been cleansed for use or not. For the Christ follower who has already received the gift of salvation from God, are you setting yourself apart for His use? Becoming more like Jesus, and following His example, in the way we live our lives is our avenue to becoming cleansed for honorable use.
CONSIDER THIS:
Read: 2 Timothy 2:20-21
PRAY: This passage ends with the goal of being used by God. Will you be bold and ask God to give you an opportunity today to be used by Him? Ask him for the awareness to realize when this opportunity presents itself.

CONSIDER THIS:
Read: 2 Timothy 2:20-21
- What does it mean to cleanse yourself from what is dishonorable?
- Why is being set apart so important?
- How can you practically be useful and ready for every good work?
PRAY: This passage ends with the goal of being used by God. Will you be bold and ask God to give you an opportunity today to be used by Him? Ask him for the awareness to realize when this opportunity presents itself.
