DAY 12

SEPTEMBER 26, 2024
MY MIND & EMOTIONS
For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. 4 For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. 5 We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ - 2 Corinthians 10:3-5
I recently had the chance to see the movie “Inside Out 2” with my grandchildren. The premise of the movie is introducing all of the increasing range of characters (emotions) wreaking havoc in teenaged Riley’s head. Anxiety, sadness, anger, fear, disgust, envy, weariness and embarrassment reveal their dark side trying to take a stronghold in the movie’s lead just as much as they can in our day-to-day lives. And Joy - the delightful character of emotion who is full of energy and encouragement - realizes she can’t always control things herself.
Where the movie falls short in its worldly view is in not making the connection that we as Christians don’t have to fight the battles with these emotions on our own. We have access to the “divine power to demolish strongholds” that keep us from the life that God wants for us. Through Christ, we can “take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ,” and we do that by filling our minds with the word and prayer to draw nearer to the Lord, our Protector.
CONSIDER THIS:
Read: 2 Corinthians 10:3-5
PRAY: Lord, I surrender my thoughts and emotions to you. Pour out your peace beyond understanding and help me take hold of the strongholds of my life. Guide me in how to prevent them from taking root again.

Read: 2 Corinthians 10:3-5
- What emotions try to wreak havoc and take root in your life?
- What is one step that you can intentionally make to take captive your thoughts?
PRAY: Lord, I surrender my thoughts and emotions to you. Pour out your peace beyond understanding and help me take hold of the strongholds of my life. Guide me in how to prevent them from taking root again.
