DAY 6
SEPTEMBER 20, 2024
SEPTEMBER 20, 2024
Jesus is my REDEEMER
In [Jesus,] we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace… Ephesians 1:7
According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, “to redeem” means “to free from what distresses or harms…to release from blame.” In my personal life, I hardly ever give someone the title, “Redeemer.” But based on the definition provided above, perhaps another acceptable title would be “Hero” or “Rescuer.”
The biblical story begins with unity between God and humanity, between one person and another, even between heaven and earth. That unity is destroyed by stark division due to a trespass. Humanity disobeyed God’s instructions. They—we—trespassed against Him. But God… He is so bent on rescuing us that he came in the Person of Jesus the Messiah, in order to redeem us—to free us from the sin and brokenness that distresses us and harms us, to release us from blame. Jesus redeemed us “through His blood,” that is, by dying the death we deserved for trespasses we committed. By His blood we are forgiven. Why? Because Jesus is rich in grace. He is our Rescuer. He is our Hero. Jesus is my Redeemer.
CONSIDER THIS:
Read: Ephesians 1:3-10
PRAY: Ephesians 1:3-10 tells us the story of our salvation, that it begins and ends with God’s work, finally culminating in the reuniting of heaven and earth. Take some time to pray for God’s kingdom to come and for His will to be done, “on earth as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:10).

CONSIDER THIS:
Read: Ephesians 1:3-10
- What is it that Jesus has redeemed you from?
- Why is redemption necessary for us?
- How can you practically walk in the redemption and salvation that Jesus has so permanently achieved for you?
PRAY: Ephesians 1:3-10 tells us the story of our salvation, that it begins and ends with God’s work, finally culminating in the reuniting of heaven and earth. Take some time to pray for God’s kingdom to come and for His will to be done, “on earth as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:10).
