FOR THE HURTING

When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles. ¹⁸ The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit. ¹⁹ Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all. ²⁰ He keeps all his bones; not one of them is broken. 2 Psalm 34:17-20

What comfort we have knowing that our God hears our pleas for help. He gives us assurance that He will act on our behalf when we are in distress or heartbroken.

Many are the troubles and afflictions in this world. As Christians, we must be aware of hurting people around us. Compassion ought to move us to pray for them. What a privilege to bring the needs of others before the throne of God! 

So, how can we pray for the hurting? 

• Pray that they will be drawn to the Lord and His Word.
• Pray that they will trust in God’s leading and provision.
• Pray that they will be comforted and strengthened by the Lord’s care.
• Pray that they will be faithful and obedient during tough times.
• Pray that the Lord will provide someone that could offer comfort, encouragement, or counseling.

• Let someone know you have been praying for them.

PRAY: Ask God for the awareness of hurting people around you and the compassion to pray for them.
