Making a personal mission with Backpacks for Honduras and child sponsorship program

One of Crosspoint’s most personal missions efforts is returning. Through our longtime partnership with Sowers4Pastors, you can participate in Backpacks for Honduras and/or Crosspoint4Lempira program, where we  actively sponsor children of the small mountainous communities of of El Naranjitos and Jicarillo in Lempira, Honduras.

Crosspointers currently sponsor 147 children and about 35 new ones are needing sponsors this year.

A monthly gift of $20 will provide your sponsored child weekly with two meals, specifically fortified to help fight malnutrition. The sponsored child will also receive school shoes and Bible teaching. In addition, sponsorships help provide feeding programs for children in other parts of Lempira and empower local pastors to reach the lost in their communities with God’s love.

Through the Backpacks for Honduras program you can provide school supplies specifically for your sponsored child or another child in need within surrounding communities without having to do a sponsorship. What makes it even more personal is Crosspointers will actually hand deliver these supplies to the children during the mission trip in March 2027, just before their new school season begins.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

PRAY FIRST - Begin praying about how God would like you to be part of this mission effort through sponsoring a child, providing a backpack of school supplies and/or going to Honduras in March:

COMMIT TO AN UNSPONSORED CHILD - Profiles of unsponsored children new to program will be on display in the foyer of the church on Sunday. Take one and use the QR code in the pamphlet to commit to your sponsorship either in monthly or annual payments. Once the sponsorship is complete the child will automatically be moved off of the “unsponsored” list. Simply selecting the card will not reserve that child for you and they could be sponsored by someone else online, if a commitment isn’t made. Once sponsored, you can fill a backpack specifically for your child. Simply attach a tag to the backpack with his/her sponsor number and name. Also, feel free to write a letter and place in the Crosspoint4Lempira mailbox to translated and delivered sometime around Christmas.

PICKUP UPDATED SPONSORED CHILD PROFILE - If you already sponsor a child, an updated profile card with new information such as clothing sizes is available at the Welcome Desk. These cards are sorted alphabetically by first name. Please be prepared with the name of your child, and someone at the desk will be able to assist you with that.

TAKE, FILL and RETURN BACKPACKS - Backpacks and an official school supply list will be available at the door of the church for anyone to pickup, fill and return, even if you choose not to sponsor a child. Bags not going to a sponsored child will be distributed to other Honduran school children in the surrounding communities. Please use the official supply list provided by Sowers4Pastors to help meet the needs and prevent customs issues with shipping the bags to Honduras.
